Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri received this afternoon at the "Center House" a delegation of religious figures, mayors and dignitaries from the North, headed by Mufti of Akkar Sheikh Zeid Bakkar Zakaria and the President of the Sunni Spiritual Court in Tripoli Samir Kamaleddine.
Premier Hariri said: "I welcome you in the "Center House", which always brings the Lebanese together because this is its national role which was drawn by Martyr Premier Rafic Hariri. Some have been trying for the last years to sabotage this symbolism, divide the Lebanese and create new leaders against us".
He added: "This is the scenario that Hezbollah put, but thanks to you and to all the loyal people like you, they failed to achieve their goals. I know that you came from beloved Akkar to express your solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against the campaigns targeting it. The stances of the last few days against the Kingdom affect Lebanon, and the problem is that there are groups in Lebanon, whether Hezbollah or its allies, who think that they are bigger than the states. Hezbollah should understand that it is not alone in the country and that there are Lebanese interests all over the world, and they are exposing Lebanon and all the Lebanese to dangers in the Arab world in general and the Arab Gulf in particular as well.
As a reminder, the Arab consensus was adopted in the Arab League when it was established upon a request from Lebanon, while other States requested a vote because Lebanon is a small country.
The campaigns against the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and burning the Saudi embassy in Tehran were condemned by the whole world and by the Lebanese, except by Lebanon's Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and Hezbollah behind him that refused to condemn what happened".
Hariri addressed the delegation, and said: "We are going through a very delicate period in the country, and campaigns and attacks against us because we refused the injustice, oppression and aggression against the Syrian people. We all know the enthusiasm of some Lebanese youth and their rush to express their support to the Syrian people. So our mission is to fortify Lebanon against what is currently going on, and by this we will be able to help our Syrian brothers. All the initiatives that I presented during the last years aim at protecting Lebanon from what is happening because this is the basis. We are in this country and we are not an easy target for anyone, and we will continue the legacy of Premier Martyr Rafic Hariri. Our mission is to save the country and we are keen to protect it from anyone who threatens it. This is our destiny and our mission and we will never abandon it".
