Future Parliamentary bloc MPs confirmed on Wednesday that the commemoration of late Prime Minister, Rafik Hariri, on February 14 shall remain the base of the Lebanese independence uprising which has brought together all the Lebanese, Muslims and Christians, who put an end to the Syrian custodianship and paved the way towards the formation of March 14 coalition.

"This coalition has formed a comprehensive national status which cleaves to national coexistence and an open and free democratic regime," a statement issued in the wake of the Future Parliamentary bloc's weekly meeting said.

Presided by Future bloc Head, Fouad Siniora, MPs voiced further attachment to the principles and values on which March 14 uprising was built upon. Marking the 11th commemoration of late Hariri, Future bloc MPs pledged ongoing support for said values "despite the temporary discrepancy among some of March 14 members."

Moreover, the Future bloc's meeting had been an occasion to step up calls for swiftly ending the presidential void. Future lawmakers saw eye-to-eye on the "dangerous ramifications of the presidential vacuum in line with the pressure being practiced by Hezbollah and the Free Patriotic Movement, imposing their presidential candidate by means of disregarding the democratic aspects of the Lebanese constitution."

"The act of torpedoing the 35th presidential election session by Hezbollah and FPM is a flagrant and utterly refused attempt to disrupt the election of a president and to dominate the Lebanese people's will to elect a new president as per their democratic regime," a statement issued in the wake of the Future bloc's meeting said.

The statement went on to accuse Hezbollah and its ally, the FPM, of forming a totalitarian political regime in an attempt to abolish the remnants of the Lebanese people's will.

On another level, the Future bloc stressed the importance of having Municipal elections be held on time.

"Amid this critical phase that the nation endures, the country is in dire need of active and vibrant sides to boost the role of the civil society and the role of the elected municipalities, in an attempt to bolster the services provided to the citizens, including solutions to sanitary problems and the waste crisis which still awaits sustainable solutions," the statement read.

Also, the Future bloc's meeting stressed the importance of drafting a new general budget law, especially now that it's been 11 years since the endorsement of the country's last general budget.

"Drafting and accomplishing the general budget is one of the Lebanese government's priorities, especially in light of the plummeting economic and financial index," the statement concluded.
