Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb asked on Saturday Prime Minister Tammam Salam "to follow up with us on the case of illegal internet in Lebanon and to give instructions to concerned authorities to cooperate to put an end for this issue once and for all."

Harb's words came in the wake of a visit to Prime Minister Tammam Salam on Saturday morning at the Grand Serail.

Harb said that the meeting was an occasion to brief the Prime Minister on the details regarding the illegal internet network in Lebanon and the investigations that the Ministry made to reveal the circumstances of this issue.

The minister said that they also discussed the cabinet and Lebanon's current issues, noting that "now that the trash crisis was solved, it is necessary to discuss with his Excellency the upcoming stage," stressing the need to make sure that officials understand that the cabinet's mission at this stage is to facilitate urgent and pressing issues and not to replace the president's mission and duties.

"I discussed with his Excellency two suggested issues (...) state security apparatus and its paralyzed status and we agreed to put this file on the agenda of the upcoming cabinet session to find solutions to it; the second issue is that of the Central Inspection Board which is the most important start to practice control on the work of administrations and ministries," Harb said.

Harb concluded that Prime Minister Tammam Salam "is well- aware of the gravity of this issue and insists on finding solutions to it," hoping that the suggestions that Salam would make in the upcoming stage would revive these two major institutions in the country.
