Telecommunications Minister, Boutros Harb said on Saturday that he'd rather choose deputy Franjieh over deputy Aoun if the presidency elections were just limited to the two deputies.

"If the presidential choice was limited between MPs Michel Aoun and Sleiman Franjieh , I would choose the latter," Harb told "Voice of Lebanon" radio, confirming that Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri's presidential initiative has not died yet.

The MP said that the initiative has failed so far due to the positions of Hizbullah and the Free Patriotic Movement (FPM), describing the "disruption of the presidential elections as a coup over the constitution."

Harb urged the cabinet to fully play its role, pointing out that Prime Minister Tammam Salam called the cabinet to meet without provoking any of the political teams.

The lawmaker wondered whether FPM and Hizbullah would respond positively to Salam's call, indicating that "the (cabinet) session is constitutional even if Hizbullah and FPM did not attend it."

Commenting on the trash file, Harb said that the cabinet has taken the decision, has the responsibility to control its implementation and follow up on the details.

Responding to a question about the dialogue session on Monday, Harb said that "this session is to carry on communications among political forces."

Harb confirmed that the current political rhetoric and positions are unusual in the political life, noting that the "Saudi-Iranian clash influenced the nomination of Franjieh for presidency."
