| Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Rai, on Friday fervently deplored the wide-scale negligence on the part of Lebanese nationals and administrative officials, reminding of every person's sacrosanct duty to respect the laws and public goodness.
Rai chaired on Friday the Christmas mass in Bkerki, in presence of a huge crowd of official figures and dignitaries, as well as swarms of devoutly religious persons.
"The nation's officials are called forth to rally around the internationally supported initiative for further contemplation en route to a national decision that gifts the nation a new president," Rai said as he delivered his Christmas homily.
Rai deplored the politicians' inertia, saying it is no longer tolerable. He blamed it for destroying the country's capabilities, impoverishing the people, and flaring the rate of migration.
He continued to prod the Lebanese political authority to provide the necessary atmosphere towards legislation, as well as economic, administrative, and security stability.
"On this holy occasion, our thoughts go out to all the kidnapped Lebanese, especially the Army soldiers that have been abducted by Daesh, and all the other hostages (...)," Rai said, praying for their swift release.
