Machnouk on Thursday visited Mufti of the Lebanese Republic Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian in Dar Al Fatwa.
Machnouk said he was optimistic about holding a cabinet session after New Year.

On the other hand, Maronite Patriarch, Beshara al-Rahi, called in his Christmas message on Thursday in the presence of a number of personalities upon all the Lebanese people, Christians in particular, for the election of a head of state as soon as possible.
Rahi reiterated his calls for intensified efforts to reach an agreement on a new electoral law, underscoring that this is the responsibility of the House of Representatives.
He urged the government to abide by its commitments in order to revive the work of public institutions, and prevent chaos and corruption.
