Future Parliamentary Bloc Member, MP Jamal Jarrah, called Saturday for "electing a new president with a national agenda instead of an Iranian one."

Speaking in an interview to "MTV" Channel, Jarrah said that "Future Movement abides by the Constitution, which stipulates that the Parliament Council must convene to elect a President of the Republic," adding that "whoever gets the majority of votes shall be congratulated and supported as the new President."

"However, there seems to be another constitution imposing on the Lebanese the election of a certain presidential candidate," he added.

Jarrah went on to indicate that, "No one is demanding Hezbollah Secretary General, Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah, not to be true to his candidate; yet again, he cannot override the Constitution and Parliament by forcing the election of a particular person," adding that "in such a case, we would no longer be respecting the Constitution, Parliamentary life and democracy."
