Future parliamentary bloc on Tuesday highlighted the obligation entailing all parties to turn out to the Parliament on forthcoming February 8, to elect a new president of the Lebanese republic.

"Having more than one candidates vying for presidency indeed enhances democracy," the bloc considered in a statement issued following its weekly meeting.

On a different note, the bloc sternly condemned the stance voiced by Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil, during the Islamic Organization Conference, deeming his position as "breaching the Constitution."

"Such stances contribute to isolating Lebanon from its Arab neighborhood," conferees warned, calling the government to clarify its position in that respect.

The bloc did not fail to up calls to activate the work of the government.

"Future" bloc member, Deputy Ammar Houry, on Tuesday called on "all the political factions to resort to Parliament on February 8 and elect a president as long as we have more than one candidate".

He pointed that contacts between Deputy Michel Aoun and former Prime Minister Saad Hariri were still ongoing, denying his knowledge of any imminent meeting.

The MP said that the discussions that took place between Speaker of the House Nabih Berri and LF leader Samir Geagea were good "as this issue confirms that the presidential file is going one way or another".

He hoped that the ongoing discussions would be fertile and accomplish the election of a president under the constitution ceiling and the democratic system.

Regarding the referral of former Minister Michel Samaha dossier to the Judicial Council, the lawmaker said "a decision was taken regarding this issue and it be approved by the Cabinet unanimously".
