Kataeb Party Head Amine Gemayel indicated that they are seeking through all available means to come out with an agreement government, saying "we are in continuous contact with our allies in March 14th seeking to reach a national government on the basis of true partnership".

Gemayel was speaking after his meeting with Prime Minister Designate Najib Mikati on Friday afternoon at his residence in Verdun where they discussed the current developments and cabinet formation issue. Gemayel described his meeting with Mikati as "positive", stressing the necessity of reaching positive outcome at the end to extricate out of the crisis that the Country is passing through.

Gemayel also made clear that the Kataeb does not aim at obtaining a ministerial portfolio but rather preserving state authority and "sovereignty and agreement" achievements in addition to boosting state institutions' role and standing in the face of "statelets" project.

Gemayel also indicated that the "unilateral government" sought for by some raises a crucial issue related to President of the Republic's prerogatives and his role.

Gemayel added "if we want to preserve Lebanon from all crises surrounding us, we have to fortify ourselves in the interior through a true partnership", calling for the implementation of consensual democracy for the interest of Lebanon.
