Kataeb head Amine Gemayel held a press conference on Monday at the party's head office in Saifi and tackled the latest developments on the regional and Lebanese scene.

Gemayel condemned at first Tripoli's horrid incident whereby he voiced support to former Premier Omar Karami and said that regional aggressions targeting Christians ought not to be repeated.

In that respect Gemayel expressed his condolences for the fallen Christian victims in Egypt whereby he hailed Pope Benedict XVI standpoints and calls for stopping such brutal aggressions, and called on all Arab and Islamic leaders to take actions to stop these horrid massacres and enforce stability.

"Sectarian and confessional massacres held against Christians are part of the displacement war. We are concerned with the situation of Christians worldwide and we ought to preserve the Levantine spiritual and human spirit, for without its Christianity the Levant shall collapse," Gemayel exclaimed and solicited the Maronite League to dedicate a day of mourning for fallen victims, as its role is not restricted with Lebanese Christians.

On the local level, Gemayel said our call for an inter-Lebanese dialogue aims at figuring out valid solutions and not to offer compromises nor concessions.

"We believe in dialogue and peace culture and we highly encourage communications between parties, for it is our sole path leading to an unbiased truth," he uttered.

In his response to a question asked Gemayel said Future movement shall not compromise over the Truth and March 14 forces bear same standpoints.

"Katateb party shall not compromise over the STL issue especially after the martyrdom of Pierre Gemayel, for compromises and concessions can bear a negative outcome on Lebanon," Gemayel concluded his word.
